Ski season is here

Here at Trail Genius we don't stop mapping just because there is a foot of white stuff on the ground, we bust out the skis and fat bikes and just keep on keepin' on.  Here are some choice shots from last year while collecting data for our Mont Ripley ski hill map, should get you in the mood to earn some early turns.

Trail Genius Athlete Sam is State Champ

Trail Genius sponsored athlete Sam had a hugely successful year of racing, capping it off by taking home:

and becoming:

State Champ - 9-10yr olds!

We could not be more proud of Sam and all the hard work he has put in, and love seeing those Trail Genus colors up on the podium!  Learn more about Sam and his winning 2013 season on his Team Page.  Sam has big plans for 2014, we look forward to supporting him for another great year.

Xterra Marquette

It was a action packed weekend at Xterra Marquette!  There were boats, drones, paddle boards and all manner of filming and mapping devices strapped to any number of Trail Genius racers and crew members.  The morning started off warm, which is never a good sign race day, but the water in Tourist Park Basin just outside of downtown Marquette, MI was cold so wetsuits were good to go.

Pee Oui Returns to Alpe d' Huez

Pee Oui is older.  Alpe d' Huez is older.  Even Steven?  Not.  Alpe d' Huez wins.  Pee Oui at 68 is slower.  Alpe d' Huez is no easier.  Pee Oui had fine tuned his S&S coupling  Schwinn Paramount to a fair-thee-well.  His bod was as good as it would get.

Mt Ventoux

Pee Oui had struggled against the steep pitches on Mt Ventoux for over an hour in 2003.  As he ground around another hair pin corner a curse barked from his dry throat, "You bastard, you killed Tommy Simpson, but you won't kill me."

Descent from Alpe d' Huez most dangerous ever?

There have been many hairy descents in Tour de France over its 100 episodes as this vintage photo by Henri Lartigue shows.  One descent in the Pyrenees took the life of Lance Armstrong's teammate, Olympic Champion, Fabio Casartelli in 1995.  He crashed and went head first into a concrete barrier block someone thought was good road furniture to keep vehicles from going over a cliff.
